The combined music programmes of St John's College and Sacred Heart Girls' College travels north, 90 minutes up the motorway to St Paul's College, a Marist college in the Auckland suburb of Ponsonby. The association that draws us to St Paul's is their Head of Music, Mr Glenn Stanbridge, who created the St John's Choir early 2011 and amalgamated it with Sacred Heart as a combined schools choir later that year. The choir's early performances were to support St John's College 50th Jubilee celebrations. In his capacity as classroom Music teacher at St John's and coach of the combined colleges choir, Mr Stanbridge accompanied the school music trip to New York in 2012 where various school music groups performed variety concerts to Marist schools, workshopped with the Marist College chamber choir in upstate New York, participated in a rehearsal workshop on Broadway, and went on a pilgrimage to ESOPUS, the Marist Youth retreat for North America. The 2012 Music Trip to New York is detailed on the St John's College website.

It is from Mr Stanbridge's experience with us here at St John's College and Sacred Heart Girls' College in Hamilton, that he was so well placed to take on his teaching appointment as Head of Department, Music. St Paul's College has been the benefactor of his enthusiasm, knowledge, commitment and experience. Taking the Music Department to St Pauls a rich lerning Education Outside The Classroom activity. Our visit also allows us an opportunity to see just how far Mr Stanbridge has progressed St Paul's fledgling Music Programme.

Music groups that perform include concert band, orchestra, senior guitar group, acoustic guitars, drum corps, choir, Irish Ceilidh group and jazz band.
