Food and Hospitality
Food Technology is an option in both Years 9 and 10.
This Unit Standards course offers 20 credits at NCEA Level 1, using Hospitality Standards Institute resources.
Students will gain the skills of food preparation and the service of food will learn to practice a high standard of food and hygiene safety and gain understanding of methods of commercial cookery.
Prerequisites: Places are highly sought after therefore successful completion of Year 10 Food Technology is required.
Approximate cost: $150
Students will complete Hospitality Standards Institute Level Two Unit Standards. The course is 18 credits, all Internal.
Topics include food hygiene and safety, and various commercial methods of cookery.
Prerequisites: Places are strictly limited therefore successful completion of Year 11 Hospitality is required. US167 is prerequisite for any subsequent Level 2 and 3 standards.
