The Faculty of Social Sciences offers subjects in the following specialist areas:

Social Sciences students are taught the tools to be able to function successfully not only in today’s society, but also with tertiary studies.

Our staff work with the students to gain their full potential whilst working towards academic excellence. Many of our staff also offers Scholarship in their Specialist Areas.

Years 9 and 10

Students participate in a programme in Social Studies which allows an introduction to the specialist subjects in Years 11, 12 and 13.

Economics is offered as an option in Year10.

Years 11, 12 and 13

Students are able to specialise in the subjects of Accounting, Economics, Geography and History from Year 11, and continue with these subject through to Year 13.

Tourism is available in Years 12 and 13, dependent on numbers.

Classics is available in Year 13.

NCEA credits are available to all Social Sciences students in Years 11, 12 and 13. Numeracy and Literacy is also available in all levels within each subject.
