Economics

St John’s College offers Economics from Years 10 to 13.

Year 10

In Year 10 the boys learn the basics of business and the New Zealand economy. They also take part in an Enterprise Day where they form their own businesses and test their products out on friends and family.

The boys have also teamed up with Sacred Heart in the Business NZ Challenge.

Senior Levels

Years 11 to 13 are full NCEA courses. Over the last few years the results have been outstanding.

Our seniors also take part in the RBNZ monetary policy challenge, where we have consistently made the regional finals.

For two years in a row a St John's College student has been the Top Scholar for Economics in the country.

  • Hamish Dick - Top Economics Scholar in New Zealand, 2013
  • Huon Fraser - Top Economics Scholar in in New Zealand, 2014
