Milton Ross appointed Head Coach for 1st XV

We’re excited to announce that Milton Ross has been appointed to lead the 1st XV coaching team for 2018. Ross boasts an experienced and successful rugby coaching CV, with his most recent stints being at Sacred Heart College Auckland and Hamilton Marist Club.

“This is an excellent appointment and Milton has all the necessary skills and experience to lift our already strong programme to the level required for the CNI competition” says Principal Shane Tong.

Milton Ross is a trained teacher, was Head of Rugby at Sacred Heart College for ten years, and was Assistant Coach for their 1st XV.  He has also coached Auckland representative age group teams at both U16 and U18 levels so he knows how to develop young men and help them to reach their potential. He joins St John’s College as a staff member too and will teach te Reo Māori.

St John’s College has built an impressive rugby platform in recent seasons. Milton acknowledges that much credit must go to departing coaches Shayne Stephens and Paki Neels and he is excited about the new opportunities that the Central North Island competition will bring.

Milton will meet with players and other team staff over the summer and training will begin  early next year.
