Year 11 PHE (5 credits Level 1 Unit Standards)

Year 11 PED (24 Credits NCEA Level 1)

Year 12 PED (21 credits NCEA Level 2)

Qualifications Gained: NCEA Level 2 - 21 credits
Assessment: All Achievement Standards are internally assessed
Entry Requirements:

Approval by HOF and priority given Year 11 PED

(Advanced Physical Education NCEA Level 1)

The aim of the course is to develop the student's knowledgein the area's of Physical Education and Health. This course will be an advantage to students who intend to go further into a 24 Credit Level 3 NCEA course in Physical Education, or for those who may wish to follow a career in fitness, recreation or sports related occupations.

This is a full-time course for one year. The course is made up of both theory and practical elements. Assessments are all internal and invole theory tests, assignments, presentations and practical tests.

Career options from this course include: teaching, sports coaching, massage, physiotherapy, fitness consultancy, outdoor pursuits instructor, nursing, occupational therapy, rehabilitation co-ordinator, sports trainer etc.

PE2.3: Credits - 3 Assessment - Internal

This standard involves an in-depth look at the components of fitness, methos & Principles of training. Students will need to demonstrate their understanding of the relationships between the three creating their own personal exercise programme for their chosen sport. Students are required to train regularly keeping a log of their training. Assessment will be through a seminar.

Year 12 Health 12HEA (PE module - 7 credits Level 2)

 

Qualifications Gained: NCEA Level 2 - 7 credits
Assessment: All Achievement Standards are internally assessed.
Entry Requirements: 1/2 Year Module. Compulsory for all Year 12 students.

The aim of the course is to develop the student's knowledge in the area's of Physical Education and Health. This course will be an advantage to all students, giving them the opportunity to gain the 7 credits.

This is a part-time course for a half year (approx 2 terms). The course is made up of both theory

and practical elements. Assessments are all internal and involve written tasks and practical tests.

PE 2.1: Credits - 3 Assessment - Internal

Demonstrate understanding of relationships between regular exercise and concepts of fitness and health. This standard involves an in-depth look at the fitness culture and an understanding of health and fitness.

PE 2.5: Credits - 4 Assessment - Internal

Demonstrate performance in an activity where a marking schedule (rubric) has been moderated. This standard assesses student's ability to demonstrate performance of skills in each sport.
