Enrolment Process

Parents  should read the information on applying for Preference carefully before beginning the process.

Information Evening / College Visits - to be confirmed in Term 2

Our usual information evening for all prospective students and their families is under review given the challenges and uncertainty caused by the COVID19 pandemic. We will provide details here when confirmed.  

Staff from the College will visit contributing schools and enrolment packages will be distributed.

Enrolment Applications Open - 29 April 2020

Step One - Complete the online Enrolment Application. (link will become available when open). Your application is NOT complete until the College receives ALL the documents it requires - please refer to the Checklist at the bottom of this page to ensure you have submitted all the information. Applications should be received by the end of Term 2 in order for them to be considered in the initial tranche.

Step 2 - Pay the $200 Enrolment deposit. This deposit will contribute towards your 2021 school costs. The deposit should be made by internet banking to 12-3122-0295197-00, or with eftpos/credit card at the College Office. Please use Student Name Deposit as the reference.

Interviews - Term 3

All Preference students whose enrolment has been confirmed are invited to a short interview, with their parents or guardians, at the College.  This is an opportunity to meet staff, discuss the enrolment and ask questions.  

Offers of a place to Non Preference students may be made from September.  Final acceptance will be confirmed on receipt of full payment of the year's costs by the end of September.

Orientation - November

Year 8 students accepted for 2021 are invited to spend an Orientation Day at the College. This important day runs from 8.45am to 3pm and details will be given at your son’s interview.

Evidence of NZ visa status if student is not an NZ citizen

Non-Preference Students 

Non-preference students will only be considered if places remain available after all preference students have been accepted. Please apply with a letter explaining your reasons for wanting to enrol your son at St John's College. Please do not use the online enrolment system.


International Students

 Students are considered separately – see the International section of our site.
