Enrolment Process


Parents  should read the Enrolment Policy information which explains the criteria for 'Preference' students before beginning the process. 

Online Enrolment dates for the 2024 Year 9 intake will open on Wednesday 5 April and are due by Friday 14 July 2023.
We ask that you get your application in well before the closing date to ensure documentation can be checked.

Late applications will still be received but not included in the ballot.

ONLINE ENROLMENTS ARE OPEN 

YEAR 9 ONLY - Preference Applications Only

Term 2 - Complete the Online Enrolment Application

Before you start, please refer to the Checklist below and scan the required documents ready to be uploaded. Applications are not complete until all information has been received. 

Completed applications should be received by Friday 14 July in order for them to be considered in the first round of acceptances.

Term 3 - Confirmation of Enrolment and Interviews 

Applicants will be notified by 14 August if their enrolment has been successful.  Students and their parents or caregivers are then invited to a short interview at the College.  This is an opportunity to meet staff, discuss the enrolment and ask questions.  

Friday 17 November - Orientation Day

Year 8 students that have been confirmed are invited to spend an Orientation Day at the College. This important day runs from 8.45am to 3pm and details will be given at your son’s interview.

Checklist - Enrolment Documents for Preference Students 2024

Please scan these documents, save with the file name indicated and upload with your application.  The system requires at least one document to be uploaded/ attached. If the files you have are large, it is best to just attach one document and then email the rest to [email protected] 

  • Diocese Enrolment Contract- Signed (FileName: Surname Diocese Contract)
  • Preference Card (FileName: Surname Pref Card)
  • Copy of Student's Birth Certificate or Passport (FileName: Surname ID)
  • Immunisation Certificate (FileName: Surname Immunisation)
  • We ask that you make a $200 donation towards the College's Learning Contribution request. The donation may be made at the College office, or by internet banking to  12-3122-0295197-00.  Please use Learn Donation and the Students names as reference.  All donations/contributions qualify for a 33% tax credit from the IRD.

    AND if applicable

  • Evidence of NZ visa status if student is not an NZ citizen (FileName: Surname Visa)
  • Copies of reports relating to learning/ behaviour or medical needs (FileName: Surname Learning OR Medical)

YEAR 9 - Non-Preference applications
Please do not use the online enrolment system, this is for preference applications only

We welcome applications and may be able to accept a small number of 'non-preference' students. Applications are considered in September if places remain after all preference students have been accepted. Please download and complete this application form, the Diocese Enrolment Contract , and return along with  a letter explaining your reasons for wanting to enrol your son at St John's College.
