The diggers have moved in - the St John's Foundation terracing project is finally under way!

Last week we celebrated the stunning new pou adorning our revamped Chanel Block. But have you seen what’s happening on the other side of the College?

The diggers have moved in - the terracing project is underway at last. Following on from the new drainage and irrigation installed to the No. 1 field last year, constructing terraced seating on our ‘Oak Tree’ bank is the final stage in this project.  We see these terraces being used by students every day - for recreational breaks, for PE, for House meetings and kapa haka competitions. They will be a fantastic new asset for us.

Thank you to the St John’s College Foundation who’ve driven and fundraised for this major work - it will benefit our school for years to come.

But most of all, thank you to the many past and present students and their families who’ve made a donation through our Buy a Brick campaign. We’d also like to acknowledge Old Boys Sean O’Halloran (Fully Fenced) , Jeremy Wharehinga and Simon Kay (Laser Plumbing Hamilton East), and Ben Chubb and Corey Gibson (GC Landscaping) for chipping in their expertise and business resources to get this underway. Finally, Pienaar Piso of Vision Complete Earthworks donated a digger and driver for 2-3 days for free - how awesome is that!

It is with the help of our wonderful community that we are able to support these enduring improvements to our school.

It’s not too late to get your family’s or son’s name on a plaque displayed on the new terraces You will always be part of the St John’s community – what a great way to mark your connection with us! Mark 20 May in your calendar now to come and support our 1st XV rugby team from this comfortable new spectator seating!
