Music students take gold at Itinerant Music Festival

It was a successful week for the music department last week. St John’s school guitar group, Gat Attack, which is made up of students ranging from Year 9-13 playing guitar, bass, drums, and singing, performed at Sacred Heart and Marian to amazing audiences before they joined other music students at the big event, the Itinerant music festival, in Hamilton.

It was a day of gold for our students who came away with three golds and a bronze award. The golds were won by the combined St John’s College/Sacred Heart Girls College concert band, The Saints, (who also received a merit award and cash prize), Gat Attack and our Irish Ceilidh Group. Congratulations also go to our jazz band for their exceptional performance and bronze award.

A big thank you to our itinerant music teachers and group leaders Chris Nation, Nathan Aish,  Glenn Richards and Paul Norman for all their Mahi!
