Kase gifts stunning painting to SJC

Kase Rowling-Colebourne was a standout art student with us from 2017, graduating last year.  We were thrilled to receive this stunning painting that he has gifted to St John's College and now sits pride of place in our College foyer - titled "Honoratus Falco".

The painting features a NZ Falcon, (Te Karewarewa), which is the closest representation we have to an eagle here in NZ It includes images of Te Waharoa, the Library and the oak tree - features which all of our students and Old Boys will remember as iconic to St John's. Kase wrote a beautiful explanation of the composition, and acknowledged his gratitude to the College, and particularly the Tech Art team, for guiding him through his educational journey with us.

And we in turn congratulate Kase on his achievements with us here. You may have read about him in our term 4 Eagle newsletter, where we featured a  deeply moving photographic portfolio that captured his grandfather's battle with cancer. He received an NCEA Scholarship Award for his photography portfolio which acknowledges his vast talent. Kase is continuing with design and arts study in Wellington this year.

If you're popping into the College (once we're out of RED setting), please take some time to admire this wonderful piece of art.
